Dave Coplin starts with a study that says that “71 percent of the American workforce is not happy at work, is disengaged.” In this RSA animate, he asks us to re-imagine work in the digital revolution. While technology is part of the problem, it’s also a tool for the solution. The trouble begins, says Coplin, when people used to sharing collaboratively with family and friends on platforms like Facebook and Twitter come to work where everything is locked down. Not sharing.
Coplin uses The Matrix, Lord of the Rings and Star Trek, (and most frighteningly the Serengeti) to describe our current work dilemma. He suggests that we take control of how our work space is arranged, where we are allowed to work and when we choose to work. Then we can better collaborate, be less stressed and more creative.
